That Simple, and That Hard

January 29, 2007 by Rosa Say

Hubby gave me a copy of restaurateur Danny Meyer’s new book, Setting the Table, The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business. It had been highly recommended to me, and so I was eager to jump into it. Finally did this past weekend, and love this, the final paragraph of the book’s introduction:

“You may think, as I once did, that I’m primarily in the business of serving good food. Actually, though, food is secondary to something that matters even more. In the end, what’s most meaningful is creating positive, uplifting outcomes for human experiences and human relationships. Business, like life, is all about how you make people feel. It’s that simple, and it’s that hard.”

If he keeps writing in that vein it’ll be a great book.

By the way, keep in mind that our annual Love Affair with Books is coming up! What are you reading right now? Get ready to write a review and share it” mark it up and read with relish.

Thanks for the book idea Rosa. I’ll add it to my list. I have to make a focused effort to get caught up on outstanding reviews before I go on to read more books. With the Love Affair with Books ahead, I have an additional incentive to complete those awaiting. Of course, then I’ll be forced to make a choice on which one I send in.
Oh, the troubles of life… :-)

    Rosa:
Can I reserve the book I’d like to review…how does this work again?
Of course, I’m wanting to claim Made To Stick as the book I’m currently having an affair with. Just got the hardback of it today.
