I have always felt that it takes a very special man to be a good father, for it is one of the most difficult jobs in the world.
As a mom I do feel we women have a bit of an edge; This thing called the maternal instinct gives us one advantage, and the mere fact that biologically we are the child-bearers creates a bond that men are not able to duplicate.
Or can they?
When a man becomes a father, and he brings the ultimate gift of love to his child in every way that he can, he gains the most aloha, admiration and respect I can give him. My children would not be the young adults they are were it not for my husband, their dad, and we are all blessed because he is in our lives.
From the day I was born until the day he died, my own dad was the most important man in my life. Today, all he taught me, and the example he always sought to set for me, my brothers and my sister still serves to influence who I am, what I do, and how I think.
To all the dads out there, happy Father’s Day. Always know how important you are, and how much you mean to us. And although we probably don’t tell you enough, please know we love you.
