Hau‘oli Makahiki hou ~ Happy New Year!

jjl170x170mainbadge.2009I am posting at Joyful Jubilant Learning today, to kick off our learning theme for January:
Join us there, and kick off your learning in this promising new year…

At JJL: Thrive in 2010 by Learning Healthy Living

Let’s LEARN in 2010, more than we ever have before. Let’s learn, and let’s thrive.

We enthusiastically present a single learning resolution to you, one we feel is universally important, and very basic for all lifelong learners: Learning Healthy Living for the New Year.

When we learn how we thrive, we’ve gained ‘Health Wisdom’

You see, good health, —make that, great health— is our sincere wish for all of you, and as early in 2010 as you can possibly achieve it. Bank your health wisdoms so they can serve you well in the months to follow.

Why? Well first, being healthy just feels better, pure and simple.

Second, it takes scads of energy to tackle a new year with all the goals we set our sights on. We learners, by nature, are ambitious. So we need strength to focus on those goals. We need the vitality, vim and vigor which keeps us diligent and tenacious in our efforts, and brave about experimentation. We know our mistakes can make a mess at times, but they’re playful, learning messes!

What a great goal for 2010! Getting healthy certainly ranks at the top of my list of goals for the new year. Hopefully I’ll have the stick-to-it-ivness to get there!

Aloha Kerry, yours is my first comment for 2010, mahalo for visiting!

In years past, the more run-of-the-mill goals of “exercise better” or “lose weight” etc. which are associated with our health haven’t excited or motivated me much, but this time healthy living is wrapped up in much more anticipation and promise for me.

      a) I’m a boomer, and like it or not (ready or not) this will be my decade of aging. I can either go kicking or fighting, or embrace it as new learning and make the most of it more gracefully, so that second option is what I choose!

      b) Having it the month-long theme for JJL is fantastic, for we have such a great team there. I just know the connection of those two words – healthy, and living – will be great learning in their company, and the best way I can get started immediately.

Perhaps you can join us there too? That stick-to-it-ivness is much easier when we enroll others in our goal, and get them to help hold us accountable. Beyond that, it’s great knowing they do care about us (or they wouldn’t bother holding us accountable at all.)
